Warwick Estate

Warwick Estate is a high-end South African winery in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa. It has a rich history dating back to 1771.

From 1771 till 1902, Warwick was known as the farm ‘De Goede Sukses’. After the Anglo Boer war ended in 1902, Colonel William Alexander Gordon, Commanding Officer of the Warwickshire regiment bought the historic farm. He renamed it ‘Warwick’ as a tribute to his regiment.

1964, Norma & Stan Ratcliffe developed the land with an extensive focus on planting Bordeaux varieties mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Through the years the estate won many illustrious wine awards and became a firmly iconic brand.

In 2017, Warwick was acquired by Charles Marston and Kishore Bopadika through Eileses Capital, their investment fund with ambitions to build on the significant Warwick foundation and to take the estate to a new level of worldwide recognition. This was followed by the acquisition of the neighboring Uitkyk Wine Farm from Distell. This purchase effectively extended the Warwick footprint to over 700 hectares of prime Simonsberg, Stellenbosch terroir.

The Simonsberg Mountains are at the center of the Cape Winelands, approximately 45km from Cape Town. These striking mountains rise nearly 1400 meters above sea level and offer a spectacular divergence of slopes and ascents.
