Water is essential to life, yet global supplies face mounting pressure—especially in agriculture, which accounts for 70% of freshwater use. In South Africa, a key supplier of fruit to the UK, climate change, droughts, and rising demand are intensifying water insecurity. As part of the UK Food and Drink Pact, Worldwide Fruit Limited (WFL) is taking action through WRAP’s Water Roadmap, partnering with WWF South Africa to strengthen water stewardship in critical Western Cape catchments.
This is the second in a series of three case studies, spotlighting collaborative efforts in the Koue Bokkeveld – Olifant & Doring River Catchment. It highlights the practical actions being taken across farms and landscapes to improve water security, support ecological resilience, and secure the future of sustainable fruit production.
